Researchers progenitor cells seek ways to grow teeth Plaque

in several laboratories in the city of Boston (Massachusetts, USA) scientists are investigating the ability of stem cells found in teeth. Researchers at the School of Dental Medicine Boston University are using these cells to produce pulp that could someday be an alternative to root canals. In the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Tufts University researchers are working on the growth of teeth and how is that zebra fishes (Danio rerio), popular for aquariums, can regenerate their teeth.

These works are still far from the dental chair, however, and some companies have begun storing dental stem cells. In Massachusetts there are at least two companies offering banking stem cells collected in deciduous teeth or third molars. What we are betting these companies is that the field will follow the example of umbilical cord blood, stem cells which are used in medical procedures and stored by cell banks, both private and public.
