This is just to remember, because the commitment we have with the land, is a commitment every day. 
On 22 April 1970 (40 years) more than 20 million Americans were mobilized to highlight the fragility of the planet and how little it mattered to its citizens. The event, sponsored by social organizations, was given the name "Earth Day" (Earth Day), and can be regarded as the birth of the modern environmental movement. Social pressure paid off and the U.S. Government created the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and enacted the "Clean Air Act." Two years later
held the first world summit on the environment: the Stockholm Conference. "The 'spirit of Stockholm" served to raise awareness, but it is clear that the Plan of Action and the recommendations of the meeting have not yet led to decisive action, "says Ecologists in Action.
In 1990, again holding the "Earth Day" this time around the world. More than 1,000 NGOs organized events in 140 countries and involving over 200 million people in them. Like the first time two years later there was another macro global summit: the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, 1992. "But the expectations were not fulfilled, missing a unique opportunity to initiate a change of course to build a more just, secure, prosperous and sustainable, according to Greenpeace.
